STUDIO J BLOG » for all that you are

Sarah and Vance handled the news of potential rain amazingly well. They smiled and went with Plan B, but then mother nature decided to be kind and the sun shined aplenty.

Annabella and I had a wonderful time photographing them around the Botanic Gardens and then we headed down to Pearl’s Oyster House for the reception.

But enough of the chatter, I know you all came for the images…

I love weddings that are centered around the couple, their family, and close friends. Chelsea and Keenan’s wedding was all of that, plus some fabulous food and wine.

There’s something very special about weddings where you feel like you truly get to know a couple based on the people they cherish and the ones who are there to reciprocate those feelings. And rather than gush about the two of them and how much they love each other, I’ll leave you with a quote from one of their readings.

“A soulmate is someone who has locks that fit our keys, and keys to fit our locks. When we feel safe enough to open the locks, our truest selves step out and we can be completely and honestly who we are; we can be loved for who we are and not for who we’re pretending to be. Each unveils the best part of the other. No matter what else goes wrong around us, with that one person we’re safe in our own paradise. Our soulmate is someone who shares our deepest longings, our sense of direction. When we’re two balloons, and together our direction is up, chances are we’ve found the right person. Our soulmate is the one who makes life come to life.”

Ok. On to the photos…

What do you get when combine an awesome couple, a beautiful venue, and a ceremony that involves Battlestar Galactica quotes? A fracking amazing wedding!

The nerd in me was stoked by all of the references that incorporated their personalities. And the photographer in me was excited by the opportunity to work with such a fun couple on a gorgeous day.

Instead of taking up space and time raving about the awesomeness of this wedding, I will just let the images speak for themselves. So say we all!

What an amazing day for a wedding. Samantha and Aaron had a beautiful day and wonderful light. Add in a fun bridal party and you’ve got a spectacular mix that was a genuine pleasure to photograph.

If you’ve scrolled through the blog or main site for very long, you’ll notice that I have some pretty awesome clients. But I have to say that Samantha and Aaron may have had the coolest reception entrance I’ve been a part of. The party got fired up and the crowd danced their butts off until late in the evening.

Enough of the chatter, on to the photos…

On a cool, but lovely October day, I headed down to the Memphis Zoo for Lauren and Kevin’s wedding. The colors of the foliage were gorgeous and it always helps to have a bride and groom who are absolutely in love with each other.

They had their first look up by the Teton Trek and then after some relaxed portraits with them, the bridal party, and the families; it was time for the main event. The light rain didn’t stop them from having a super sweet ceremony.

Then we all headed back over to Teton Trek for the reception. Amy Miller did an amazing job, as always, of making sure that things ran smoothly and looked spectacular. And of course, I can’t forget to thank the awesome Annabella Brandon for joining me to shoot such a fabulous wedding.

Ok, time for the pics…
