Wow.  So it is the start of a new year, and I have lots of exciting things planned for the year.  I will be announcing most of them this month.

I’ll start with the first few days.  Tomorrow, I’ll post Jorden & Robert’s wedding from just before Christmas and Saturday I’ll post Connie & Tim’s wedding.  After that, I’ll be updating a few sessions that I am lagging behind on.

Also, I’ll be updating the blog and the main site’s overall look.

But I have to do something fun for New Year’s Day, so below is my top ten list of things from 2008.  And for those who aren’t technologically inclined, you’ll have to excuse three of them.

10.  Two lenses I bought this year.  My 85/1.2 and my 45 tilt-shift.  One totally rocks for portraits and the other dramatically changed my landscape and travel photography work.  You’ll see more of that in a week or so when I show more from Paris.

9.  Pushing Daisies.  This is both a praise and a rant.  I was so stoked when season two started and how awesome the first few episodes were, and then some devastated when they cancelled it.  And yet, they can make a new show called “Homeland Security USA”.  Really?

8.  Radio Poppers.  This is one of those techie things.  They work with my flashes to help me shoot in the broad daylight while keeping the clouds and everything else in the photo.

7.  The Dark Knight.  I LOVED this movie.  Absolutely amazing in so many ways.  If Heath Ledger doesn’t win, it’s a crime and a shame.

6.  Travelling Shovel.  Lisa and I took place in this great project, and we got published in a national photography magazine.  It was awesome to see an image I took in a national magazine.

5.  Rory.  I have a kitten now.  And she will be getting her own post as soon as I can get her to sit still long enough for a photo.  Hopefully, next week.

4.  5D Mark 2.  Another techie thing, but one that is incredibly cool.  It’s a new version of my current camera that also has video.  I promise that some unbelievably fun stuff is on it’s way very soon.

3.  Iphone.  The last of the tech stuff.  I can think of two truly watershed moments in recent years.  The day I heard of Google and the moment I activated my iphone.  Both changed the way I operate.

2.  Paris.  It was honestly a debate between this and the iphone, but Paris won second place.  My six days there were absolutely unbelievable.  I would love to live there.  But more and more about Paris in the posts to come.

1.  And what/who gets first place for 2008?  There is a very special woman in my life now.  We’re at almost three months of being together.  For now, I’ll spare her the inquiries by not putting her name out into cyberspace.
