The Official Blog of Studio J Photography bio picture

Welcome!

So this is my chance to tell you how totally cool I am, but honestly I'm not sure if I can really sum up myself in two or three paragraphs.  Let's start with the basics.

I love the sound that the shutter makes when I take a photograph, especially when there are really cool people on the other side of the lens.

I deny any conversations that take place before my first cup of coffee.

I love a glass of 18-year-old scotch, almost as much as a glass of chocolate milk.

I love making people love how they look in photos. I love to travel and experience new places.

I love that last bit of milk in the bottom of the cereal bowl.

I love life's simple pleasures.  I love life's not so simple pleasures.

I love sushi.  Lots and lots of sushi.

I love movies, especially ones by Tarantino.

I think TV shows on DVD is one of the 20th century's best inventions.

Where did I go?

The 31 days started off so strong.  So what happened?  Life happened.
Editing, meetings, emails, and loads of other things.  Tomorrow is my first wedding of the season, and I can hardly wait.  Next week, I promise to get some blog posts up.
But in the meantime, I had to share something that I found the other...

Day 19 – Some more from France

I won’t go on and on about how bad of a blogger I have been since people I know have been telling me that I am too hard on myself about it.  But I am planning to get some good stuff up in the next few days.
For now, I wanted to share a couple more...

Wow.  So as my time in Phoenix was ending, I decided to take advantage of an opportunity to do something that I’ve always wanted to do…ride in a hot air balloon.
The morning was absolutely perfect.  The skies were blue and the weather was incredible.  We rode for over an hour and then had an awesome...

Day 17 – Random Shots from Carefree

Ok.  So I have a few shots from my time at Carefree (the resort where our convention was held) that just don’t fit into any other categories.
We were shooting around on the last day and found an old building where they apparently set up for Halloween and never took the people down.  It was a...

Day 16 – More Musings

Ok.  Some more random musings and an image from last week.
Musing 1.  It is an amazing thing to actually have the weather be consistent for a week.  Being able to wake up in the morning and know that the weather will be pretty much the same as the day before was awesome.
Musing 2.  I am...

Day 15 – Christmas Lights

Ok.  So I lapsed a couple of days (travel will do that) and am starting back up.  I promise to push through into February to make up for it.
If you’ve followed the blog for a long time, you know that I have a yearly tradition of photographing Christmas lights in my parents home towm each year. ...

Day 14 – Big News, part one

Wow.  So no images today, but I have something big to tell you all.
Myia & Thomas, whose wedding will be in June, will be my 75th wedding to shoot.  So they’re getting $750 off.
Towards the end of the month, I will be making a big announcement about my 100th wedding.
I will be travelling home tomorrow...
