Ok. After all of the encouraging words I received after the passing of my grandfather, I wanted to take the chance to remind everyone of something very important to me. I know that most of you already know this, but photographs are incredibly important to me. Of all of the photographs that I have taken, two of my favorites are below. I was blessed enough to have the skills and opportunity to capture my grandfather in a way that we will always be able to remember him. The one where he was smiling was from Thanksgiving of last year, and the other was at Christmas. I took a print of the smiling one to the viewing and I heard person after person talk about how it really captured who he was. The important thing is that you pick up the camera and not say "I'll do it later." You never know if there

My Grandfather

First, let me quickly say thank you to everyone for the overwhelming outpouring of support regarding my grandfather's death. I truly appreciate it and hope to get everyone caught up this week. Ok. Some of you attentive readers will notice that Davida & Ricky look very familiar. Davida was Robyn's Maid of Honor and Ricky was one of Keith's Groomsmen. Well, I was already booked for their wedding date next month...but they wanted to do some fun engagement shots. So they met Darius and I downtown early on Saturday morning (early for me at least). I tried a few new things and am really excited about the photos. The whole gallery will be up soon, but in the meantime...here are some of my favorites. A huge thanks to Darius for all of his help, yet again. Alrighty, enough chit chat already, on to the photos....
Out of the office
Sep 20073 Comments »I will be out of the office all week due to the passing of my grandfather on my dad's side. I won't have access to the internet, and in most of the area where my family lives my cell phone won't work. His passing was not unexpected as he was quite old and had been in poor health. Fortunately, my dad got a chance to visit him just a couple of hours before he passed on. I will be back in town and available next Monday the 24th. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Jake
Wow. I have to tell you a little story about this couple. The first email I received from Angela simply said "I must have you for my wedding." When I finally met with her and Jim, we totally clicked. They were a total blast. So fast forward to the wedding. We had a chance to take all of the photos before the wedding, and even had time to play a good old game of "Telephone". The idea was inspired by a shoot from Vanity Fair. The ceremony was at Central Christian Church and the reception at the really cool 19th Century Club. The band, Bullet Town, was absolutely amazing. From the introductions on, Lisa and I agreed that they were one of the best wedding bands we'd ever heard. Their website is www.bullettown.com . Oh, and the groom's cake was a super dark (dyed) chocolate cake. Just so you know how the "black
Ok. This post is way overdue. It's been a crazy week couple of weeks. Back on the last day of August, Lisa and I had the really great experience of photographing a small, private wedding. I got a call from Cindy Krag asking me if I would be interested, and I said I'd love to. Turns out that Angela and her crew from Southern Event Planners were involved as well, and then I knew things would be great. The food and the atmosphere were amazing. I have to tell you the really great thing, most of the guests were completely surprised by the wedding. You see, Mandy & Kenny told most of the people that they were just having a nice dinner party. The kids were a blast. Mandy & Kenny have one of the coolest trampoline setups I've ever seen, so after the guests left we hung around to have some fun. Enough
