The Official Blog of Studio J Photography bio picture

Welcome!

So this is my chance to tell you how totally cool I am, but honestly I'm not sure if I can really sum up myself in two or three paragraphs.  Let's start with the basics.

I love the sound that the shutter makes when I take a photograph, especially when there are really cool people on the other side of the lens.

I deny any conversations that take place before my first cup of coffee.

I love a glass of 18-year-old scotch, almost as much as a glass of chocolate milk.

I love making people love how they look in photos. I love to travel and experience new places.

I love that last bit of milk in the bottom of the cereal bowl.

I love life's simple pleasures.  I love life's not so simple pleasures.

I love sushi.  Lots and lots of sushi.

I love movies, especially ones by Tarantino.

I think TV shows on DVD is one of the 20th century's best inventions.

Ashley & Derek’s Wedding | Memphis Wedding Photography

I’m kind of delayed getting this post up, but anyone who’s been in or around Memphis lately will understand what a crazy week it’s been around here.

Recently, Darius and I headed over to the fabulous Le Pavillon for Ashley & Derek’s wedding. When we got there, Olivia and Maurice of the amazing Delectables Catering were already getting things set up.

They had a really sweet private moment, and then we gathered up the bridal party to go get some fun shots. Then after a really beautiful ceremony, the real party began.

Enough chit chat, on to the pics…

Tiffany & Chris’s Engagement Session

When I talked with Tiffany & Chris, they kept saying how much they loved the outdoors and being together. So I really tailored their session to their love of the outdoors.

Ok, on to the photos…

Molly & Eric’s Engagement Session

So, I’m at a big photography convention in Nashville and I fell behind on the blogging over the weekend as everything went pretty crazy the last few days. But enough about me, on to the couple.

Molly and Eric are really good friends with Tiffany & Dan, and when we sat down and started talking about them I loved hearing all about their story. I love the way they interact with each other. They are so fun. We had to stop by the Celtic Crossing for some great beer.

Ok, on to the photos…

Katie & Ryan’s Day After | Memphis Wedding Photography

Katie and Ryan were really awesome to let me take them to areas I hadn’t taken other people and to try some totally new ideas out. They rocked it out the whole time.

Thanks you two. Now, on to the pics…

Day Afters – Better together

So it’s late at night, but I’m still blogging away. I promised a few images from the joint Day After sessions, and here they are.

Kimberly & Michael’s Day After

So on to the other part of the double Day After session. Kimberly & Michael were a total blast. Between them and Colleen and Jason, I laughed so hard that sometimes it was hard to pay attention to what I was doing.

Thanks you guys for making things so much fun.

Alright, on to the photos…

Colleen & Jason’s Day After Session

Ok. So I’m just getting this post in before the end of the day, but I got it posted and will do better in the coming days.

Colleen and Jason are absolutely hilarious. You’ve seen some of the images when I posted from the double Day After session with her sister, but here are a few more. Tomorrow I’ll post from Kimberly and Michael’s and show some faves from the two couples together.

And, no, we have no idea who the guy running by is…other than an unsuspecting photo prop.

Enough talk, on to the images…
